Tony McClements praised for financial crime lecture to law students
Tony McClements delivers a much-sought after lecture to law students at the School of Law and Policing at the University of Lancashire.
Head of Investigations, Tony McClements has been warmly welcomed for a packed lecture on financial crime given to over 100 law students at one of the UK’s top academic centres for Law and Policing.
The lecture to law students at the University of Lancashire School of Law and Policing, in England, was a first for Tony, who he has previously been in demand as a guest lecturer to policing students and those studying for financial investigation qualifications.
Tony said:
“It was a little nerve wracking, as I was expecting some difficult questions from law students compared to those on law enforcement I normally take from policing students.
“As it was, they were very receptive to my input, and asked a series of questions that gave some insight into their developing legal mindset.
“Indeed, I spent time after the session in the refectory answering far more generic questions to do with career development and the type of law and investigation work our team practices at MKS Law.”
He added:
“Martin fully supports the liaison we have built with the university, including the annual award we sponsor with financial investigation students.
“This is further cemented by two former students joining our team here in the BVI, including senior investigator and forensic accountant, Harley Thomas.
“The university has a significant number of excellent students, who I believe would make an excellent addition to many law firms and financial investigations teams.”
Course lecturer, Munera Patel, thanked Tony for his efforts:
“I wanted to say on behalf of the students, myself and the School of Law and Policing a really big thank you and that your guest lecture was really informative and valuable.
“It was clear to see that the students really enjoyed themselves. I have been asked by a student to pass on their thanks and to say that they really enjoyed the lecture.
“I hope you can continue to support us and that you will return next year to do the same.”
The University of Lancashire is where Tony McClements obtained his Masters in Criminal Investigation.
It is also where MKS Law Head of Firm, Martin Kenney, is a Visiting Professor, sponsoring an annual award for the most outstanding student from the School of Law and Policing’s MSc Financial Investigation course.
