Martin Kenney to speak in China
Martin Kenney heads to Shanghai, China, to speak at a special ICC FraudNet conference, alongside a seminar in Hangzhou.
Head of Firm Martin Kenney is heading to Shanghai, China this weekend to take part in two special events.
This Saturday, 12th September, Martin will join colleagues round the world for an ICC FraudNet International Conference on Cross-Border Asset Recovery.
Through a series of panel discussions, the seminar will explore key developments and practical challenges throughout the entire cross-border asset recovery process.
The programme will focus on several core topics:
- Fraud involving Chinese enterprises in cross-border investments and M&A transactions
- Secret pre-action asset investigations, recovery of special assets
- Piercing and tracing through multi-layered offshore structures
- Liquidation, insolvency and receivership
- Recognition and enforcement of Chinese judgments and arbitral awards offshore
- Coordination between criminal and civil proceedings and the collection of evidence abroad
- Third-party litigation funding and cost and outcome management.

- Session 2: Secret Pre-action Asset Investigation: Methods, Tools and Proceedings
- Session 8 (moderator): Cost and Outcome Management for Chinese Claimants: Third-Party Funding, Contingency Fees and Beyond

Then on Monday, 14th September, Martin will head to a further seminar, discussing Cross-Border Asset Recovery for Chinese Creditors, held as part of China Arbitration Week 2026.

- Session 2: Tracing Assets and Obtaining Evidence Across Borders: Investigation, Discovery and Disclosure Tools
The Hangzhou seminar has been formally included as one of the official series events of China Arbitration Week 2026.
The China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) has kindly agreed to co-organise the event with Han Kun Law Offices, and they will also provide on-site support to ensure the smooth running of the programme.
