Overview

Nick is our Director of Communications. He heads all our branding strategy, our marketing and communications needs, and runs our ‘Follow the Money’ podcast.

Previously communications director for anti-extremism organisation, HOPE not hate, his clients have included the UK government’s Cabinet Office, the Centre for Finance and Security (at RUSI), plus international NGOs such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, Health Poverty Action, Bridge2Aid and Children on the Edge, and a number of faith organisations.

As a journalist, he reported from conflict zones, wrote from the townships of South Africa, undertook investigations into gold selling in virtual games, visited Kurdistan, produced Ponzi investigations, covered the case of the ‘American Taliban’, and wrote many investigative pieces.

An early digital adopter, Nick was an editor for the Royal Geographical Society’s magazine, Geographical, pioneering its online expansion. He has gone on to manage websites, as well as leading branding, social media and digital management, plus run podcasts, for various clients.

Nick is also the author of a critically-acclaimed exposé of extreme-right movements across the globe, called HOMELAND: Into a World of Hate, described as “reportage of the most illuminating kind” by the Times Literary Supplement, “a tremendous scary exposé” by The Independent, and “a heart of darkness” by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

In addition, he was Creative Producer of the BBC One TV drama England Expects, which was inspired by HOMELAND, and has consulted on numerous other TV projects.

“He writes furiously, at times brilliantly.”
